Noosa River Mouth
Noosa River Mouth

Another postcard done on the spot, but just the drawing with a ball-point pen.

There are wooden picnic tables and chairs along the river. I took a seat in the shade.

While I was drawing, a couple of sea kayakers went paddling out the river mouth.

Brisbane Kookaburra
Brisbane Kookaburra

On this short trip, I brought with me my painting gear: Daler-Rowney Artists' Water Colour, a four-colour ball-point pen, a felt pen, a couple of old small notebooks for esquisse (rough sketch), some blank postcards, and some paint brushes.

This postcard ended up to be the only work that I finished on the spot on that rainy day in Brissy (see the previous post).

It was rather dark outside with rain, and even darker inside my room that was only dimly lit.

Looking out the window, I saw this house across the street. I liked the warm colours and the style of the house that I think is commonly seen in Queensland. Then I saw a blackish kookaburra visiting the house.

Rainy Brisbane
Rainy Brisbane

The backpackers hostel where I stayed in Brissy had a shower with a note, "one minute!"

So the solid rain we had all day that day was a big blessing for the city, though it was a nightmare for travellers like me stuck at the hostel with no rain gear at hand. I'd wanted to explore the city and revisit the state art galleries, South Bank, and botanical gardens.

It turned out to be a good day for drawing and painting, and munching on apples and sponge finger savoiardi biscuits alone in an empty four-bed room with a shared balcony on the first (actually the second) floor just above the entrance.

Lake Wabby, Fraser Island
Lake Wabby, Fraser Island

We just kept on walking on sand dunes without a shade to block the afternoon sun for about half an hour, but there was no sign of a lake.

Lake Wabby was located down the end of sand dunes and was half surrounded by trees on the other side.

The clouds looked amazing like white stars scattered all over the bright blue sky.
